The Marks Supply Inc. culture is based on two key principles: Process
Improvement and Employee Recognition.
Process Improvement
We want to hear our employee’s ideas about how we can improve the
way we do business. That is why we encourage our employees to give
us their ideas. The Process Improvement Team regularly meets with
Robin to review ideas regarding our most important processes and
to determine which ideas are going to be implemented. Our employees
play an enormous role in the direction our company moves. Their
implemented ideas are given CASH awards at our annual picnic. At
our most recent Process Improvement Picnic over $6000 was handed
out! It's a great way for employees to earn extra cash and help
our company improve.
Employee Recognition
We encourage employees to recognize each other for going "above
and beyond" their normal duties and responsibilities. After all,
if we are going to continue "Supplying the Best", we need to do
the unexpected for our customers.
Each month one employee from each of our branches earns the title
of Employee of the Month based on the number of recognitions they
receive from around the company. Then, prior to the annual company
picnic one finalist from each branch is nominated to compete for
the coveted Employee of the Year Award. A panel of judges scrutinizes
each nominees standing in a variety of areas including Process Improvement
ideas submitted and implemented, number of Employee of the Month
wins, attendance, participation in our Learn and Earn opportunities.
(We wanted to have a swimsuit competition but our HR Manager suggested
this might be outside our guidelines of appropriate workplace fun.)
We even have each nominee's branch manager make a speech to the
judges explaining why they feel their team member should win the
Employee of the Year award.
Annual Picnic
Each September, we invite all employees and their families to share
a day of recognition for the outstanding contributions of our staff.
The past few years, we have sponsored a day at Sportsworld, with
an awards luncheon and full access to the park. We also hold a ceremony
and along with some amusing "Most Likely to.." awards.
We hand out envelopes stuffed with cash to people who have had one
of their improvement ideas implemented. The final presentation is
for the Employee of the Year, and all nominees are quite nervous
by the time the 'big moment' arrives.
It's great for various people around the company to receive recognition
in front of their families and their peers. Pictures of the day
are taken with a digital camera and everyone gets a big laugh when
they log onto our Employee Web Page to view the event.
Learn and Earn
Currently we have over 30 various educational tools for our team
members to access. Each of these earn an employee a CASH or PRIZE
reward when they are completed. Yes, that's right, we PAY our employees
for developing their knowledge, skills, and habits.

Marks Supply Inc. supports the ongoing education and development
of all staff members.
Full-Time
As a full-time employee at Marks Supply Inc., your outside education
at a University, College, Technical Institute, or other training
facility is covered 100%. If you want guidance on what courses you
should take to help you meet a personal or professional goal, just
ask! Our management is pleased to support the efforts of our employees
in setting and meeting goals. You have full access to our learning
library, which includes course information for a variety of educational
institutions, industry-specific training courses, and a variety
of self-help materials. Our in-house training materials are available
on a "loan" basis, and are taken on your own time, and at your own
pace. We often invite vendors in to our facilities to do lunch-n-learn
seminars. This is an excellent opportunity to pick up valuable information
about new product lines! Occasionally, Marks Supply will ask employees
to attend off-site courses for specific skill development. These
courses, and the time away from the office, are paid in full.
Part-Time
Marks Supply Inc. will pay for 50% of the cost of outside education
at a University, College or technical institute for those employees
who maintain a 20-hour work week, when such schedules are available.
We will make every attempt to accommodate our employees’ wishes
to return to school while they continue their employment at Marks.
Co-Op
Marks Supply Inc. welcomes Co-Op students to work with our team,
gain valuable experience, and bring some of their own ideas to our
workplace. If a Co-Op student stays on after their term is complete,
we will pick up their education expenses as outlined above for the
full-time and part-time workers. Go to school, gain valuable experience,
and have your tuition paid � what better way to meet your personal
development goals? If you don’t have any personal development goals,
don’t bother to apply with us!
